Enjoying the Dales

No further news on the house-hunting front, but we're off to see Saturday's promising house again this coming Saturday - it's the only possible one so far. There are a few other very nice looking houses up for sale in the village, but the cheapest is £345,000 - somewhat more than our budget.

Tom and I have been slightly under the weather with coughs, so we haven't done much outdoor stuff yet, but we're both on the mend, so a walk is planned for tomorrow, possibly Clapham up to Ingleborough Cave.

Today we went into Settle for the weekly market. A very nice town is Settle - almost no chain stores on the high street, only handsome little independent shops & cafés.

We stopped in one of these cafés for elevenses and then headed off for a drive through Horton and Ribblehead to Dent, mainly in search of the treacle tart at The Sun Inn, which we enjoyed several times last year. It wasn't on the menu board when we arrived, but they managed to find a couple of pieces lurking in the kitchen, so it was a successful trip. We then drove back to Ingleton along an incredibly narrow, twisty road that required Nik to get out and open & close gates about 5 times. Gorgeous drive though.

Tom had his afternoon "nap", after which we marched him down to to Ingleton Playground in near-darkness. Didn't stop him having a good time, although he did insist on stopping for a swift half on the way home (see photo).

As I write this, we're having the daily battle between Tom and his dinner. He seems to refuse any type of protein, preferring to exist on a diet of carbohydrate and fruit. Things like treacle tart seem acceptable too. Hmmm.
