Bear Hunt

On Thursday we got the train in to Leeds.  Not for shopping, but to go on a Bear Hunt.  There were over 80 bears all over the city to find.  As you know, we love bears in this family so we had to take part.  It was all in aid of the Children's Hospital in Leeds which can only be a good thing.

As is the case these days, there was an app to download - it was pretty good, it had a map of all the bears, once you found one, it had a 4 digit code which you typed in, this meant that you had 'collected' the bear.  You got all sorts of rewards as you went round from badges, to discounts in shops, to automatic donations to charity etc.  It gave you all sorts of stats too.  This meant it kept us all interested.

It also took us to parts of Leeds that we have never been to before, we discovered the Tetley Building, the Playhouse and some other areas too.

My favourites were the Yorkshire themed bears and the polar bear - this one had 12.6% of the bear missing to represent the amount of artic ice lost every decade.  Once you collected this one, an automatic £1 was donated to an associated charity.

It was a hot day, so we had to keep stopping for drinks (and maybe a bite to eat?!).  On arrival we got the water taxi out to the Armouries and then walked back towards the city centre collecting bears as we went.  We had two lunches - one at Bao Boy and one at Bundobust, the most amazing ice cream from a shopping centre and a cake at John Lewis.  Of course we then took sushi on the train for tea.

It was a grand day out and we managed to find 76 of the 83 bears.  All the ones we didn't get were way out of the city centre.
