Matt's Birthday

The day after we got back from Shropshire, Tom headed off to Scout Camp for a week in the rain.  This meant that he wasn't around for Matt's birthday.  As a result we decided to head away for the night.  I looked around everywhere in the Lakes, Dales, Liverpool etc and couldn't find anything that was reasonably priced.  Then Matt suggested The Quebecs hotel in Leeds and bingo - it was reasonably priced, so we decided to go to Leeds.

We had a lovely mini break: a bit of shopping, a LOT of eating and some great drinks too.  The Quebecs Hotel is very lovely, the beds are amazing and it is very quiet.  What more do you need?

First stop was lunch - we couldn't decide between Bao Boy and Bundobust so we had a half:half lunch - one dish at Bundobust and one bao bun in Bao Boy.  A perfect compromise.  We then did some shopping, somehow, Matt managed not to buy anything in the Apple Store which is almost unheard of!  We then had an afternoon rest in our room before putting some poshish clobber on and headed out again.  First stop was the Alchemist for a cocktail - always fun and then we went to Cult Wings - a restaurant we found online.  It sounded interesting - and Matt fancied wings.  We made a booking and arrived to find we were the only ones in the restaurant.  Oh hum.  Nevermind.  

We ordered a serving of wings each (one jerk flavoured and one lemon and garlic flavoured) and some fries.  We weren't disappointed - the wings were huge and very very tasty - in fact I had trouble finishing my portion.  It didn't matter that we were the only ones eating, we enjoyed it very much.  However, I think we both over ate as we both suddenly became quite tired and groggy.  

Oh hum, never mind we headed back to our room and lazed around whilst we recovered.  Monday we did a bit more shopping and walking around before heading home.  A nice, short break.
