Homing Tom

Another trip to Shrewsbury today. Tom seems to be visiting his place of birth quite regularly.

Today's trip was to introduce Tom to Karen, who was down for an NCT Mums' night out. We arrived around 10.00 to find 4 hungover mothers who had clearly relished a night away from their toddlers. Tom put on a display of consummate charm, being passed from admirer to admirer, smiling beautifully and generating cries of "I'd forgotten they were so little" etc. He didn't cry once and, I reckon, got all 4 of them thinking about trying for no. 2. We'll see.

As we were in Shrewsbury, we thought it would be rude not to take Tom to The Armoury, probably the best pub in the county, and we managed to arrive while it was still reasonably quiet and empty. BUT, he wasn't the youngest there. In fact, he was more than twice as old as the little boy sitting at the next table. First time I've felt like an experienced Dad.

The weather has been terrific today, so we wheeled Tom through The Quarry (which is a park, not a quarry) and up through town to do a bit of shopping. Then home for afternoon tea (for him) and chores (for us). Looking forward to a slow-cooked goulash for dinner. Smells marvellous.
