So, Christmas hols start today. We woke up to a very chilly morning, and after the usual morning routine, we headed off to Hadley for Tom's swimming lesson. Nik went in with him for the first time in a while (finally feeling well enough), and because there were only 4 babies in attendance this time, there was lots of room in the pool. Tom was much as last week, i.e. fine for 25 minutes and then screaming for the last 5. Still, he did the underwater bits very well; it was being handed to the instructor that didn't please him. We seem to be suffering from a bit of separation anxiety at the moment.
We then came home, had lunch and packed the car to bursting point. We really thought we'd have to leave some presents behind, but we got them all in in the end. We dropped Jodie off at kennels and then headed south. Getting through Brum was awful and we had to avoid the M4 as well, so not a great journey all in all. Still, Tom behaved impeccably all the way.
We unpacked the mountain of bags from the car and I had to disappear straight afterwards to show my face at Phil & Anna's Xmas bash. Very nice and I managed to catch up with some old friends from Edinburgh. Didn't stay too late though. No stamina these days. Came straight back to Mortlake, pausing only for 2 doughnuts and a coffee at Waterloo. Not as good as Greggs and twice the price. Thence to bed for some much-needed shuteye.
