We had a pretty decent night sleep-wise. Tom had a good breakfast and went down for his morning nap very well. Saturday is the most important day of the week for morning naps. If he doesn't get at least half an hour, the 10.00am swimming lesson tends to go very badly indeed.
It was quite full in the pool today; 7 tots plus parents. It was Nik's turn to have a dip, so I took over the photography duties for the morning. Tom was pretty good for most of the lesson, but (there's usually a but these days) Tom's still suffering from a bit of separation anxiety, so any activity that involved him being handed to Jenny, the teacher, resulted in tears. His sense of humour had gone completely by the end of the lesson (as can be sen from the photo), and worse was to come when it was time get changed. This was my job today, as Nik did the swimming, and he absolutely screamed the place down. Separation anxiety again. Sometimes Daddy won't do at all. I made my apologies to the other dads, all of whom had impeccably behaved children, and took Tom out to Nik, whereupon the screaming ceased immediately. Hmmmm. Thanks Tom.
We came home pronto, as we were expecting Martin, Ben & Mia for lunch. Individual home-made DIY pizzas no less. Yum. Everything got eaten. We decided that exercise was probably required after that, so took a long, rambling stroll through the Granville Nature Reserve to the golf club, where we immediately put back on all the calories thanks to some huge flapjacks. We dragged ourselves back home just before the rain came down, watched a couple of episodes of Ooglies (truly a cross-generational show) and sat down to half an acre of lasagne that Nik had prepared. As before, everyone loved it, but we've got plenty of it left to eat this week. What a chore that'll be, but I'll do my best.
Can you believe it we have been blogging for a year now. Can't believe we are still going, but very glad to have a record of the first year of Tom's life.
